Motivation and Focus
Life becomes so hectic and when we meet times of success or change, it’s easy for us to glide through in excitement for a time and then coast into that repetitive pattern that simply doesn’t drive us. While life might remain positive, we lose that mental motivation that pushes us to meet our goals and find success in our lives.
From our personal lives to our professional lives and everything in between, we may not even notice when we get into that rut and lose our focus and motivation. It’s so easy to get caught up in the flow of what we’re doing and forget that there is more to be achieved.
On the same side of the coin, sometimes it seems like we push so hard, turning our wheels and never moving forward. We lose that mental focus and get frustrated at the standstill we have found ourselves at.
We find ourselves pushing those dreams aside and often forgetting about them rather than continuing to pursue them. This can lead to negative effects like depression, loss of motivation, loss of focus, or simply feeling unfulfilled in what we are doing.
A Guide to Staying Motivated
Motivation is primarily a state-of-mind. But mental focus towards your goals is a key factor to finding your success or simply even for finding happiness in the moment. Never stop trying to achieve more than you have but also don’t let your achievements lead you to forget who you are.
There are some steps you can take to keep your mental motivation at the forefront and find positive change in your life and we’re here to share our tips with you in an effort to renew your spirits and see that there is hope on the horizon.
Set Goals
Setting goals is about so much more than setting a generic expectation of your goal a year from now. You know how New Year’s Resolutions always get dropped or forgotten within a few months of the new year? The same goes for setting goals.
Your goals MUST be small and realistic. Don’t just mentally realize your goals and compartmentalize them but rather put them to paper. Start with your big goal – and advanced goal that will take some time to realize.
But don’t stop there. You need to hone in on that goal and break it down into smaller goals. Set milestones that will keep you on your path to the end-goal. Reward yourself as you hit milestones. Let each milestone be new and exciting and this will trigger your mental motivation to keep pushing for that highlight.
If you meet your end goal in a reasonable time frame you should bask in your success and then you should make new goals so you can push your next level of success. There should be no end to your goals. When you reach your highest point, celebrate the point and then keep going.
Don’t Go It Alone
You are NOT alone and you certainly don’t have to find your motivation or mental focus to meet your goals on your own. Bring in the experts to help you find success. Surround yourself with a team that will have your back and will help you out of your rut.
Your team should have similar goals or should at least be able to understand your goals and be willing to push you towards them. Be prepared to take constructive criticism to make changes that could lead you to more positive results.
You must be willing to listen, to change and adapt for the future. You see, we find ourselves in a rut because it simply is not easy to keep moving forward all the time. We get comfortable with where we are and we find our focus shifts to staying comfortable rather than pressing onward.
Utilizing resources, teams, friends, family, employees, and whatever other options you might have in your corner, is the best way to get out of that funk and make positive changes for your future. No one said it would be easy, and it might even hurt a little bit but think of what it could produce.
Tap into those who have been in your shoes, those that see the big picture from another perspective, and those who simply want to support you and let them drive you towards success. Stop pushing back, stop making excuses and jump all in.
Here Comes the Rut
It is safe to say that we start a mission gung-ho. We go full steam ahead because it’s new and exciting and we have that mental focus that it takes to push for our goals. It is also safe to say that this feeling doesn’t last forever.
You should know going in that your motivation could fade. The success you see at the start could dwindle
and with it, your focus towards future success. Be proactive with that knowledge. Have a game plan in place for how you will handle that rut that is certain to find you on your journey.
Don’t let the rut catch you by surprise. Just store it in the recesses of your mind, knowing a time will present itself in which you lose your motivated focus and you persist with the basic status quo.
The sparkle and shine wear off, as with all things brand new, and it is up to YOU to find the sparkle every time. When you get frustrated or you see that rut full-speed ahead, think about others who struggled and found success.
There are a number of historic inventors and even current successful individuals who have a story to tell. Many of them found success by starting at the bottom. Read their stories and renew your passion. If they can do it, so can you.
Positivity is Everything
Are you ready for the hard truth? Your mind’s focus can dictate your actions, or lack thereof. If you’re dwelling on what is going wrong or you find yourself succumbing to thoughts of the inability to succeed, you are less likely to take positive action.
This boils down to mind over matter. No matter how challenging you may find your circumstances, you must choose to see the positive and seek the positive rather than letting the downslides and the negativity rule your thoughts and actions.
Don’t be afraid to find positive resources that will provide you with the motivation you need and deserve. Yes, we said it, you deserve a positive outcome. Now you repeat that line, with feeling. YOU DESERVE SUCCESS.

Try, Try Again
A drive for success does not always mean you will find it at the drop of a hat. Life happens, situations are constantly changing, and any little setback can throw a wrench in your motivation and focus.
Have you heard that saying? What is it? When you fall down seven times, get up eight. It’s ok to stumble and it’s certainly ok to fall. If you weren’t meeting roadblocks and struggles, then it simply wouldn’t be life.
While we all wish everything could operate smoothly and we could find success when we snap our fingers, the reality is we will have challenges and we will fall. Every person who tries will have to pick themselves up and dust off their shoulders, maybe multiple times.
And you know what? That is ok, but don’t miss that part where you get back up again. Dust off those shoulders and simply keep pushing forward. Find a new way, a new method and don’t let the slightest setback or challenge stop you from changing your life for the better.
Conclusion
Motivation is not a plan, it’s not a vitamin you can purchase, or a health food you can start pursuing.
Motivation is a mindset and it is up to you to find a way to renew your mindset and focus towards positive change.
It probably won’t be easy and you may never really see the light at the end of the tunnel, but the key is to keep pushing and striving for something better and just to simply roll with the punches.
Do you hear that calling? It’s mental clarity of motivation and focus. It’s telling you to just keep pushing through the challenges and to never give up on those dreams and hopes of a brighter future. Don’t lose that drive for success and whatever you do, don’t stop seeking a positive future for your life.
